486: When is Enough, Enough? Does Money Buy Happiness?

We have discussed previously on the podcast the concept of the 3x rule when it comes to money. Essentially, no matter where you are on the money spectrum, on average, we think we would ultimately be happy if we made 3x our current income. Turns out, this is not the case as each time you get closer to that number, your 3x increases as well. Studies taking place in the “blue zones” of the world, and interviews with centenarians, also show that money does not correlate with the longevity of life or happiness. Rob and Kim share their perspectives on this topic as they are work their way through reading…

  • Kids Mindset

Stop asking your kids “How was your day?” Do this instead.

As parents, our connecting with our kids is a priority. Especially as they enter the tween/teen years, that bond and open communication is even more important. But, it’s not always easy. They say the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” I found that asking my kid “How was your day?” drops squarely inside that category. I get it; the question seems fair and should have a simple reply. The operative word here is “should.” Most parents know that the answer unfailingly to that question is, “Fine” or worse, “I don’t know.” followed by, “Can I go play on my…

    FriDate: On the Fly

Debate is dead… and, we’re honestly tired of the BS and censorship. Plus, there are topics that sometimes we want to tackle, but it’s not truly in the lane of our regular FriDate Podcast. FriDate: On the Fly is a PRIVATE podcast we produce unedited and…

484: Navigating Creative Differences in Relationships – Both Life and Business

Every relationship has creative differences and we all have to learn how to handle them. When in a relationship with someone, it is not always possible to be in 100% agreement. To minimize conflicts, it is important to communicate in advance if the project is a collaboration or if one partner will take the creative lead. Additionally, it is important to recognize each other’s strengths and weaknesses to understand where the other is coming from. Rob and Kim use a few comical examples from their own life, including Rob’s “parachute pants”, to discuss how they are working to overcome this challenge in their own relationship. Finding Our La Dolce Vita in Florence

La Dolce Vita translates to The Sweet Life. This phrase came from the iconic Fellini movie of the same name that depicted life in 1950’s Rome. Today, la dolce vita is an expression used to describe a life full of beauty and pleasures. It means a life of music, love, good music and food. I came to Florence at 16 during a school trip and instantly felt a special energy, almost like I was home. At such a young age, I couldn’t really process or understand the feeling I had walking these ancient cobblestone streets. Unknowingly, one of the photos that I took of a sunset over the Arno River…

480: Real Friends vs Deal Friends

As an entrepreneur, it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that business is only one aspect of life. Your career and friend group can transition into one, which is exceptionally different than if you were working in a standard nine-to-five job.  Connecting with folks you want to be around – people that fill you with energy, provide lighthearted talk, and won’t judge you amid any downturns in your business – will give you the proper balance of enthusiasm in your life that no career can bring.  Being around, or being, a “leg humper” can help you succeed in business, but this does not constitute a true friendship.…
